PANTALOON moves into airport retail
Indian retailer Pantaloon has announced a joint venture with UK-based Alpha Airports Group plc to offer travel and catering services at Indian airports.
WOOLWORTHS tie up for consumer electronics chain in India
In India, Tata Sons has announced that its subsidiary Infiniti Retail has forged a technical and sourcing alliance with Australian Woolworths to start up a new consumer electronics/durables retail chain. Infiniti Retail will operate a national chain of multibrand outlets under the Croma banner that will offer consumers more than 6,000 products. An initial investment of around INR4.00 billion (USD86.8 million) will be made in the retail chain. In the first 18 months, Infiniti Retail plans to launch 30 large format Croma stores across the country, The first store will open for business next Monday at Juhu, a suburb of Mumbai. Infiniti Retail will own and run the Croma retail operations in India, while Woolworths will provide technical support and strategic sourcing facilities from its global network. Woolworths will not have any equity stake in Infiniti Retail.
