Australia retail sales surge, odds lengthen on rate cut

Yesterday's data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed retail sales surged 1.3% in February, far outstripping forecasts of a 0.3% increase. It was the largest monthly gain since November 2009 and followed an upwardly revised 1.2% rise in January.
